Founded in 1990, InStyle Caterers has developed a faithful following of event planners and marketing professionals throughout the DC/MD/VA Metropolitan area. "Our goal is to bring a new approach to catering," says Denise. She takes the time to build each menu according to audience and purpose, promising to give the best service possible – at a respectable price. "We want to bring the tastes of the world right to your table. Everyone in our company works closely together to ensure that the clients have a memorable experience. We want you to remember that taste fondly not to mention the great service the next day," says Denise.
Vernon Thorne is in charge of Operations. From the light bulbs, the cleaning staff, to getting the catering trucks out in a timely manner, his handiwork is a part of each event. You may not taste it on the plate, but maintaining the equipment and managing the staff and all the behind the scenes efforts are critical to the success of any event. Working together as a team, the couple is a steady force and pushes for perfection for each and every client.
Executive Chef Halima Felicía is just as passionate about the business. "I want InStyle Caterers to be known as the best catering company on the East Coast." After graduating from the esteemed Johnson & Wales University’s College of Culinary Arts, she realized just how much she loved to cook. "I find something new each time I cook. The best thing about working for this company is that I get to play," said Halima. With the kitchen her daily playground, Halima enjoys preparing theme parties and formal events most of all. Her personal favorite cuisine is Japanese, but when asked if she has a favorite dish, the answer wasn’t so quick. "It could be Herb marinated Grouper paired with celery root mashed potatoes with a pineapple tomato confetti and Courgettes drizzled with a Wild Mushroom reduction one day and something else the next, especially when we’re developing new menus." Clearly, her passion for many tastes translates to inspired menu selections.
InStyle Caterers was selected to be one of the featured caterers for the new National Harbor located in MD. With a stunning view and exquisite amenities, the company’s food is a perfect complement. Says Denise, "People move to DC from all over the world. This area is brimming with culture and excitement. We just take it all in and put it on the plate."
