Hank Haney International Junior Golf Academy

The team of HHIJGA golf instructors work directly with the players to develop the student’s game to its fullest potential. Students receive personalized golf instruction in full swing, short game, putting, and course management. Students at the academy also work directly with our mental trainers. Mental training, along with physical training, is an integral part of the golf program at the HH IJGA. Students collaborate in group seminars and workshops to gain insight into the necessary mental skills to enhance performance both on and off the golf course. The mental program helps students in three major areas which include providing students with training in mental performance enhancement techniques, assisting our student-athletes to reach their fullest potential as a junior golfer, and to prepare them for competitive pressure and more consistent results in tournament play.

The main goal of the HH IJGA is to prepare students for the next level in their golf career. In 2009, 94% of students at the HH IJGA received college golf scholarships. The Director of College Placement works with each student to develop a tournament schedule and help build their golf resume to ultimately receiving the college golf scholarship of their dreams. Over the past 14 years, more than 2,000 students have attended HH IJGA. Students have been able to earn college golf scholarships from outstanding colleges and universities such as the University of Georgia, University of South Carolina, Purdue University, Clemson University, University of Virginia, Oklahoma State University, San Diego State University, Northwestern University, Pepperdine, Temple University, University of New Mexico, University of North Carolina, University of California, Boston College, and the University of Kentucky.

The HHIJGA is also the only junior golf academy to own its own school, the Heritage Academy. This has enabled our students to achieve great success on the course and in the classroom with a schedule that is customized for the student athlete in mind. The Heritage Academy offers a challenging course curriculum with College Preparatory courses and English as a Second Language (ESL). Students are able to spend half the day in the classroom, and half on the golf course which allows them to succeed in both areas. In addition, students in all these areas share the same qualities; a desire to excel and stand out in their field and the willingness to work as hard as they can to achieve this goal. Along with our school community’s common goals, we have tremendous diversity in our student body. Our local students attend classes with students from many countries and states. Last year’s Valedictorian and Salutatorian are attending Princeton and Dartmouth, respectively, which emphasizes the quality of education the students are receiving at the Heritage Academy.

The HH IJGA offers a complete package for the serious junior golfer; world-class golf instruction, prestigious academics, and international competition are just the beginning for your son or daughter. We have created an avenue for junior golfers who are passionate about their game to achieve great success at the college level and beyond. The HH IJGA offers full-time, holiday, weekend, summer, and custom programs for golfers of all ages from 12-19. In addition, the HHIJGA offers a Post-Graduate program for students who have graduated high school and wish to focus on golf training while taking college courses at University of South Carolina – Beaufort.
