Join the National Children’s Museum this Spring at the Kids’ Potomac River Clean-Up
On April 4, the Museum will present an exciting day of environmentally friendly children’s programming during Kids’ River Clean-Up Day at the Accokeek Colonial Farm, featuring an interactive puppet show and river clean-up.
Families can follow The Adventures of Wally the Water Bottle, an original performance by the National Children’s Museum, as Wally is accidentally washed into a river.
Following the puppet show, families can participate in a real river clean-up at a special kids’ site on the Potomac riverbank, and attend a closing awards ceremony. Best for children ages four and up.
When: Kids’ River Clean-Up Day: April 4, 10 a.m. to noon
Where: Accokeek Colonial Farm
3400 Bryan Point Road
Accokeek, MD 20607
Details: To register for this event, contact Tricia Hardin at the Accokeek Foundation at 301-283-2113 ext. 12.
The new museum is scheduled to open in 2013, however they have hosted a number of “Museum Without Walls” events including the Cherry Blossom Family Day in March, and the aforementioned River Clean-Up.
The museum will be a world-class cultural and educational center with a mission to inspire children to care about and improve the world. It will serve millions of children and their families each year through a new 150,000 square-foot experiential learning center at National Harbor.
Onsite and online exhibits and experiences, complemented by a national network of programs and partners, will give all children the opportunity to learn, explore and connect with opportunities to get involved and make a difference in their communities.
