Sunday Concerts at the National Gallery of Art

Concerts at the National Gallery are open to the public, free of charge. Admittance is on a first-come, first-seated basis, beginning at one half hour before each concert. The entrance at 6th Street and Constitution Avenue NW remains open on Sunday until 6:30 p.m. Families with small children may be asked to sit in designated areas. Please note that late entry or reentry of the West Building after 6:30 p.m. is not permitted. For further information, call (202) 842-6941.

Inside Tip : Security will be tight. The earlier you arrive the better and remember you have to go through security. Arriving at 9:00 am is not unreasonable.

The Capitol Hill Dance Society is pleased to announce it will hold eight monthly Saturday
afternoon family square dances. These "North Hall Dances" are an opportunity for parents, children, neighbors and friends to join together in an activity perfect for all ages. The Family Dance will feature live music by the Capitol Hillbillies, under the direction of fiddler Joel Bailes. An experienced caller will demonstrate all the movements in the dances. No experience is necessary, just come out and dance.

Scottish Heritage Preview at The Lyceum

Celebrate Alexandria’s Scottish heritage at Alexandria’s History Museum, a week before the annual Scottish Walk! At this free event, visitors will enjoy Scottish music, performances by highland and ountry dancers, and historical re-enactors who will display and discuss period clothing, weaponry, and armor. A musician will demonstrate the bagpipes and reveal how they were used as an instrument of war.
