Meet the Locals - All Three Major Tour Players

Looking for a reason to tune in and watch some more golf at this time of the year – why not check in on our local products on all three of the major tours.

The PGA Tour – Steve Marino

Steve MarinoSteve is a local product from Fairfax, VA where he grew up and attended W.T. Woodson High School.  Steve graduated in 1998 and moved on to the University of Virginia where he was given a full scholarship.  At the end of his freshman year, Steve won the coveted Virginia State Amateur title.  Steve graduated UVA in 2002 and turned professional playing on one of the toughest mini tours in the country, the Grey Goose/Golden Bear Tour.  Steve quickly became known as a hard worker, often being the last player on the driving range each night.  Steve’s hard work paid off, as he became the leading money winner on the Grey Goose Tour.  Steve began playing in Nationwide Tour events with some success, but returned to the Grey Goose Tour for the Grey Goose Tour Championship where he fired a third round 59 en route to the win.  Steve played his way through qualifying school the next winter and gained his PGA Tour card.  In his rookie season, Steve won over $1 million in prize money and retained his Tour Card.  This season, Steve has gone over the $2 million mark in earnings and has moved into the Top 100 in the Official Golf World Rankings.  Steve’s family still lives in the Fairfax area and are members of The Country Club of Fairfax.  Be sure to watch for Steve in the Fall finish on the PGA Tour.
