Grand Opening of Piazza Sempione at Chevy Chase

A mix of fashion, champagne, and around 100 of Washington’s well-dressed, showed up in Chevy Chase for the opening boutique of the Italian line, Piazza Sempione. The opening, hosted by Vogue magazine and the Aba Agency, included hors d’oeuvres, informal modeling, and an exclusive spring 2010 trunk show. The brand is based in Milan, Italy and has ties to Louis Vuitton.

The newly opened store is owned by Iraklis and Yasmine Karabassis, Washington’s fashionable power-couple. The self-made moguls operate IK Retail Group, a retail, management, and development company. CEO and President of the company, Iraklis Karabassis first started the retail business by introducing the United Colors of Benetton brand to the states over 25 years ago. Over the years, he partnered with his now wife Yasmine Karabassis and they both have a world-wide reputation for branding.  Their specialty is taking a label and developing it into a full lifestyle brand. Operating over 100 stores in both the United States as well as Canada, they are to thank for the luxe brand labels Louis Vuitton, Dior, and Gucci to The Collection at Chevy Chase.
