The PGA Merchandise Show
January 28 – 30, 2010
Orange County Convention Center
Orlando, Florida
The 57th annual PGA Merchandise show is set to take place next month in Orlando, Fl. This golf merchandise show is the largest of it's kind in the country,
and is tailored to the PGA golf professionals and merchandise buyers across the country. So why should you care about the PGA Merchandise show? Well, it's pretty simple.
The PGA Merchandise show has long been the venue for golf companies to launch their new products. Companies that attend the show included Titleist, Callaway, Taylor
Made, and more. New club models have typically been released here because many of the 28,000 PGA professionals are in attendance and ready to pre-book orders for the
coming golf year. The buzz created around a new driver, a new set of irons, or even a new putter design can be significant. The booths at the show can be very elaborate
in an effort to try and attract the PGA professionals and buyers to come in and take a look at what is new and what is the new, hot product for 2010.
In addition to the club companies there is pretty much every clothing vendor at the PGA Merchandise show as well. Again, you may not think that this is of much
importance to you, but this is where your PGA professional or the merchandise buyers will decide what to stock in your local golf shop for the coming year. Will your golf
course stock Ashworth shirts this year? Or will it be something new from Under Armor? How about the new tech materials from Nike or Adidas? A great deal of these
decisions are made at the PGA Merchandise show as sales reps from each company show all of their offerings to the right people.

Finally, and probably my favorite part of the PGA Merchandise show, is the rows and rows of everything else that the show has to offer. This is where you can find the
next hot product, long before anyone else even knows it exists. A few years ago, this is where you would have found the golf GPS units. There are so many products on
display from teaching aides from Butch Harmon and Dave Pelz, to a new tri-fold golf towel that repels dirt like magic. There are small clothing lines that you have never
heard that are just trying to get your attention for ten minutes. Then there are the big companies that have PGA Tour stars coming in to sign autographs and draw more
attention to what they have to sell. There are even golf club collectors there to sell you a set of irons from 1932 – complete with hickory shafts and leather wrap grips.
There's also the new travel section where you can learn about Scotland and even book trips.
Think this sounds like a lot of fun? It can be – but it also can be a very difficult week as well. If you seriously want to visit every booth at the show, it would
easily take you all day, every day that the show is open – and that would probably only allow you about five minutes at each booth. The PGA Merchandise show can be
overwhelming – but it is a very valuable tool for your PGA professional or merchandise buyer. So when you walk into your golf shop next Spring and Fall, remember that a
lot of what you are seeing was purchased at the PGA Merchandise show in January.
